Therapeutic Horticulture Programme
To enhance the well-being and quality of life of our residents, Lions Home For The Elders aims to provide a wide array of meaningful activities to actively engage them. Studies have shown positive effects of horticulture therapy on the physical and mental health of seniors, helping to promote healthy sleep patterns, offering psychological health benefits, as well as showing a significant reduction in anxiety and improvement in cognitive functions.
In recent years, we have introduced hydroponics farming to our residents with great success. We are now looking at setting up a sensory herb garden as part of our Therapeutic Horticulture Programme. Through the programme, we hope to encourage positive social interactions and improve our residents’ well-being by connecting them with nature through horticulture therapy and gardening-related activities.
Donations raised from this fundraising campaign will help fund the Therapeutic Horticulture Programme, including costs of procuring the gardening supplies and maintenance of the horticulture space. The proceeds raised will also be matched dollar-for-dollar under the Community Silver Trust fund.
